I was very much intrigued by this World Cup character, a “psychic” octopus called Paul! And since it picked Spain as the fated winner, Germans started wishing him fried! His kind was removed from a US restaurant menu, and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero was ready to send some protection to Paul.
